Beautiful Victorian-era Oxford King James Holy Bible, printed at the University Press and issued by Henry Frowde, Oxford University Press Warehouse, 7 Paternoster Row, London, with the New York address at 42 Bleecker Street. Compact Pearl 24mo edition featuring a black textured binding surrounded by brass-colored metal edging, hinged metal clasp, elaborate gilt center ornament, and gilt page edges. Includes both Old and New Testaments. The front endpaper has a wonderful period presentation inscription: “Willie S. Mott, Birthday present from your Sister Eldora, Mar. 11th ’83,” firmly dating this copy to 1883 or earlier. An appealing antique Bible for collectors of Victorian books, religious history, Oxford bindings, or decorative antique books.
