Billy Graham and his wife, Ruth, to Calvin and Dorothy Thielman, who served as the Graham family's pastor in Montreat for over thirty years. Taped to the back of the rear cover is a vintage Christmas card with a poem by Whittier which reads, "Somehow, not only for Christmas but all the long year through, the joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you." On the card is written in felt tipped marker "Calvin and Dorothy, we love you! Bill & Ruth", handwritten by Ruth Graham. A special, unique touch is there is a remnant of the Christmas gift-wrapping paper from the Graham's gift to the Thielmans, affixed to the inside front cover. "D. & C. Thielman" is also written in ink on the front first page at the top corner. Part of the popular “Pictorial History” series that many American cities produced in the late 20th century, this book presents an illustrated local history of Asheville, North Carolina.
