Film Fun – August 1937, UK edition, with the striking “Easy to Get Stuck On!” pin-up cover by Enoch Bolles. An original 1930s issue of Film Fun combining one of Bolles’s highly collectable illustrated covers with Hollywood photography, film features, humorous captions and period advertising. The cover depicts a glamorous figure caught on a strand of barbed wire and is an established Enoch Bolles design. The original painting is known and has subsequently appeared at auction, making this a particularly well-documented example of his Film Fun cover work. Inside is the magazine’s characteristic mixture of candid and publicity photographs of Hollywood performers, film stills and humorous commentary. The issue includes material relating to Broadway Melody of 1938, featuring Eleanor Powell and Robert Taylor, alongside numerous photographic pages and period advertisements. This is the UK edition, with the original 1/- price printed on the front cover. A very attractive surviving copy. The colourful cover remains striking, with general age-related handling and surface marking to the predominantly white background, some creasing and small areas of wear around the edges and spine. The covers remain attached and the magazine is sound. Internally there is the expected age toning to the paper, while the photographic content remains clean and very well presented overall. An appealing 1930s Hollywood magazine and an especially strong Enoch Bolles pin-up cover. You might also be interested i
