Van Dyke; text by Ronn Ronck Mutual Publishing Company, Honolulu, 1982 ISBN 0-935180-03-6 Large-format pictorial history of Hawaii featuring hundreds of historical photographs by noted Hawaiian photographer Ray Jerome Baker, including images of Hawaiian life, people, Waikiki, agriculture, boats, landscapes and Old Hawaii. Unusual association/presentation copy: The presentation page is hand-inscribed: “Presented to Charles B. Odom, M.D. / Aloha Luncheon / The Summit / Ala Moana Hotel / February 8, 1985.” The inscription shows slightly through the reverse side of the page. Charles B. Odom served as Honolulu's medical examiner, giving this copy an interesting period Honolulu association. The book is accompanied by the illustrated presentation case/box shown in the photographs. The case has significant age-related spotting, staining and surface wear. The hardcover itself remains attractive and structurally sound, with additional normal vintage wear as photographed.
