This stylish brochure showcases the principal work undertaken by Sunley, a major British construction and civil engineering company, responsible for some of the most important building projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar during the 1960s and 1970s.Company operations in the Middle East commenced in Dubai in 1969 with the 400-bed Rashid Hospital. The book opens with 26 colour plates devoted to Sunley's Middle East contracts, including the Dubai International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Dubai Hilton, and Doha's Hamad Hospital. In Abu Dhabi the company constructed an extensive apartment block for the Abu Dhabi International Oil Company (ADNOC), the Medical Pavilion, East Telephone Exchange, and the striking BCCI headquarters (architect Fitzroy Robinson and Partners). UK projects illustrated include residential, commercial, civic, and government buildings, terminals at Gatwick Airport, and the Royal Thames Yacht Club. In 1979 Sunley won the Queen's Award for Export Achievement.
