€35 · Offered by eBay

Creative Camera – December 1969, an early issue of the influential British photography magazine published by Coo Press. A particularly strong issue featuring six photographs from Vietnam by Philip Jones Griffiths and a substantial portfolio by Danny Lyon on the destruction of Lower Manhattan. Also included are Agathe Gaillard on photographic postcards, reproducing work by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Man Ray, Jeanloup Sieff, Willy Ronis, Edouard Boubat, Jean-Philippe Charbonnier and Léon Herschtritt; Aaron Scharf “talking about explosions”; and a letter from New York by Robert Frank. Lewis W. Hine and Van Deren Coke are also featured. The cover image is credited to John Heartfield. Creative Camera was one of the most important British photography magazines of its period, presenting contemporary documentary and fine-art photography alongside historical work. This December 1969 issue dates from the end of Bill Jay’s editorship and contains particularly notable documentary work by Jones Griffiths and Lyon. Large-format, staple-bound magazine. Complete with its original rear cover, carrying the Creative Camera Postal Circles membership application. A well-preserved copy overall with some age-related handling and edge wear, light toning and some marking/spotting to the rear cover. The contents remain clean and very presentable. This is one of seven Creative Camera issues from 1969–71 that I am listing individually. As a bonus, the first of these seven issues to sell wil
