Los Angeles: Harris-Kubrick Productions, 1957. Shooting script for the 1957 film. This version of the script, rather than ending with the grim execution of the film's protagonists, contains a happy ending wherein their sentence is commuted at the last minute by a soft-hearted general. This draft was issued at Kubrick's instruction in order to both shoot the film and avoid conflict with distributors. The ending was never shot, nor was it intended to be shot.
