The Holy Bible
£2,500 · Offered by Shapero Rare Books
contemporary red morocco gilt A finely bound example of the 'Pearl Bible', so-named for its small size which made it ideal for carrying in one's pocket, dating to the Interregnum. I, pencil notes to endpapers, a little toned; contemporary red morocco, the covers with gilt roll borders of chain-link design, gilt spines in 5 compartments, contrasting black morocco lettering-pieces to 2nd and 3rd compartments, all edges gilt, a little rubbed, overall a near fine example.
