Édifices de Rome Moderne Paul Marie Letarouilly Princeton Architectural Press 1991 Revised facsimile edition, 6th printing French; introductory and publication material in English Fine large-format hardcover in a near fine dust jacket. Black cloth boards are exceptionally clean with bright gilt lettering to the front and spine and only negligible signs of handling. Binding is square, firm, and sound; pages are clean and unmarked. Dust jacket shows only light surface wear. Complete with the large folding Plan de Rome Moderne, measuring approximately 32 x 22 inches when fully opened, which remains clean and well preserved. This substantial architectural volume condenses Letarouilly’s original three-volume work into a single hardbound edition, reproducing all 354 plates devoted to Renaissance Roman architecture. The extraordinarily detailed engraved illustrations encompass measured plans, sections, elevations, perspectives, and large-scale architectural details. Princeton produced the edition on acid-free, non-yellowing paper and bound it in tightly woven natural black buckram with a durable Smyth-sewn construction and thickened spine. The oversized format allows the exceptionally fine linework of the original engravings to be reproduced with considerable clarity. Also present is the impressive folding Plan de Rome Moderne, measuring approximately 32 x 22 inches when fully opened. First published in 1840 after some thirty-five years of work by Paul Letarouilly, Édifices de Rome
