computer-designed colouring books A beautiful, complete set of these unusual colouring books designed using computer software in 1989. The author of these volumes is Barry Simon, Caltech's IBM Professor of Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Emeritus. Simon was an early adopter of personal computers during the 1980s who founded a small shareware company and wrote reviews for PC Magazine. The introduction to each volume explains that, 'most of the patterns in this colouring book were created by using the special characteristics of a personal-computer software program. Other patterns were inspired by Amish quilt designs. The patterns were transferred from the computer screen to paper with the help of a laser printer'. First edition, first printings; perfect bound; 48 leaves each, contents a little toned; original colour wrappers, lightly rubbed at the extremities with a minor crease to the cover of volume 2, an excellent set, the wrappers bright and fresh.
