"Trapper Jim" by Edwyn Sandys is a 1924 printing of an outdoor-adventure book for boys, published by The Macmillan Company (New York) and Macmillan & Co., Ltd. (London), running 424 pages with numerous illustrations. First published in 1903 and reprinted many times since, it follows a boy mentored by an experienced woodsman through trapping, fishing, taxidermy (mounting specimens), canoeing, and gun-handling - told partly in the mentor's folksy trapping dialogue. Edwyn Sandys was also the author of "Upland Game-Birds" in the American Sportsman's Library. This copy would suit collectors of early-1900s outdoor and sporting literature for boys, vintage trapping and woodcraft enthusiasts, and Boy Scouts-era juvenile adventure collectors. This copy carries a period gift inscription: "To John Wayne, from The Browns, Xmas 1924" - a charming, ordinary Christmas gift note from 1924 (not connected to the film actor, who did not adopt that stage name until 1930).
