Strange Adventures #180 DC Comics, September 1965 Silver Age Key Issue First appearance and origin of Buddy Baker, later known as Animal Man. A major DC Silver Age key and the comic that introduced one of DC's most distinctive characters. This is a very attractive copy with excellent colour and strong overall eye appeal. The black background remains particularly striking, with bright yellow, green and orange cover colours. Estimated raw grade: approximately 6.0 Fine The comic presents extremely well for the grade. The back cover is particularly clean and attractive. The main condition issue is a long colour-breaking diagonal crease through the upper-left area of the front cover. There are also several smaller spine ticks, some colour-breaking spine wear, light edge wear and minor corner wear. There is a small dark ink mark along the top edges of the interior pages. From its appearance and location this looks consistent with a printer/production or distribution ink mark rather than conventional staining. It does not affect the front-cover presentation. Please see the detailed photographs. The interior shown remains attractive with strong colour and good overall presentation. This issue contains “I Was the Man with the Animal Powers!”, introducing Buddy Baker after exposure to a crashed alien spacecraft gives him the ability to copy the powers and abilities of nearby animals.
