The Poetical Works. An early collected edition, its text heavily revised by the poet. In a letter of 1836, Wordsworth suggested "compare the pieces entitled 'Evening Walk', 'Descriptive Sketches', and 'The Waggoner', you will find I have made very considerable alterations, which I trust will be found to be improvements - at all events they ought to be so, for they cost me much labour" (quoted in Wise, p. 224).
