Souvenir Map of the Coronation Procession May 12th, 1937. A souvenir map produced to commemorate George VI's coronation procession. The recto shows the route of the procession while the verso features drink suggestions for a celebratory menu, short descriptions of a few different liqueurs, including Goldwasser and Curaçao, and eight commemorative cocktail recipes, with titles like "Royal Beauty", "Happy Reign", and "Strathmore Rose".The artist, Claude Charles Atkinson (1893-1979), was an advertising and graphics artist and publicity officer for the Potato Marketing Board. He gained attention in 1936 for displaying his tongue-in-cheek "Next-to-Nothing Bungalow" displayed at the Ideal Home Exhibition in Olympia, which commented on the growing expenses of home-owning and featured divan beds made from crates and tyres and armchairs made from tea chests.
