WorldCat locates copies at British Library, Yale and the New York Public Library only; a single copy is traced at auction.Patrick Boyle (d.1808), of whom surprisingly little biographical detail remains, was "a clever entrepreneur" (Atkins) who identified a number of gaps in the market, mostly by way of guide books and directories. He was the publisher of Boyle's Court Guide and Fashionable Register, first published 1792 and continuing under various titles for 134 years, which recorded "only the names and addresses of the fashionable and wealthy" and was the first street directory to consist of entirely private residents; the General London Guide: or a Tradesman's Directory; and a Complete List of all the Market Towns in Great Britain; he also published an edition of Van Rymsdyk's illustrated guide to the British Museum, Museum Britannicum... in 1791.The present work, which in various guises ran to at least six editions by 1810, was evidently seen to fill the need for a simplified handbook for pub landlords.
