SMITH, Mary.
Inquire · Offered by Peter Harrington
The Complete House-Keeper, and Professed Cook. Third edition overall, first published in 1772. Of particular note are the inclusion of two folding plates, showing a potential selection of dishes for a large dinner party, arrayed on a table. With the ownership signature "Sarah Harrison Oct 29 1845" to front free endpaper, and an early manuscript contents page to title page verso possible in the same hand, as well as slightly obscure emendations to the title page and printed contents page - crossing out the Robinson imprint and part of the subtitle, and crossing out part of the contents list, despite the information being correct. Annotations are repeated in various places, mostly cross-referencing to other pages.
