L'Allegro and Il Penseroso. John Milton. Illustrated by William Blake. Both poems originally published 1645. Hardcover Heritage Club edition, published 1954. Includes slipcase. Slipcase is well faded, and shows some minor wear around edges. Holds together well and is architecturally sound. Fits square around book and is not loose. Hardcover book itself in very good condition. Decorated papering (greyscale on Il Penseroso side, blue tint on L'Allegro side) with red cloth spine. Gilt lettering on spine; titles of poems printed on cover on their respective sides. L'Allegro side shows Ex Libris label from previous owner. Pages are uniformly yellowed from age, but are unmarked and appear unread. Binding is tight. Includes 2 copies of an insert of The Heritage Club's newsletter "Sandglass," Number IV: 19, printed for and about this edition. 10.6"x7.4" (with slipcase). 96 pages. ckm
