Ordinances for 1893 and 1894. First editions, the 1894 ordinances being a second printing issued shortly after first publication. Noranha & Co.'s volumes of ordinances from the 19th century are now rare both institutionally and in commerce.The regulations in these volumes concern a range of topics including the formation of a Hong Kong volunteer corps, new requirements for the registration of medical practitioners, and the introduction of licenses and numbered metal tags for all dogs. 1894 also heralded the strengthened regulation of slaughterhouses, meat markets, and the opium trade between Hong Kong, Canton, and Macao. The same year, Governor William Robinson promulgated a lengthy directive on the government's legal resumption of the unsanitary Taipingshan area.
