Own a bit of publishing history from the peak of Pottermania! This is a true first edition, first wave of the first printing of Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. "Children's version" illustrated by Jason Cockcroft, printed by Clays Ltd St Ives plc in the UK, and shipped to retailer Waterstones in London for the massive launch at midnight on Saturday, June 21, 2003. BOOK INCLUDES THESE ERRORS/IDENTIFYING FEATURES: Rare "ghost" impression of title page on reverse side of front endpaper Rare Page 96 ERROR: line 6 reads "a shifty at it before we let it out." "Shifty" was changed to "shufti" in later waves of the 1st edition print run ("have a shufti" is a British military slang term meaning to "take a quick look" or "have a glance") Page 766 ERRORS: Copy ends at the bottom of page 766, followed by a blank page before the plain endpapers. The blank page shows light ink transfer from p. 766, proof that the printer and bindery were working furiously to print, bind & ship before the midnight launch. Ghosting from p. 766 on blank page before the endpapers at the back of book "W" printed on upper lefthand corner of dust jacket, indicating this book was part of a shipment to Waterstones. Boards, book and dust jacket are in great condition -- binding is firm, without any sagging, and there no marks on the pages or boards.
