It collects his writings and speeches from 1953 to 1964, along with transcripts of the three major trials in which he was a defendant, together constituting an eloquent denunciation of the apartheid regime and a description of the underground resistance against it.This is the hardback issue; it was issued in paperback simultaneously. The UK edition was published in late May, preceding the US edition of September.
