Letters to T. E. Lawrence. First edition, second impression. This is a collection of letters to Lawrence by 37 writers, including Gertrude Bell, Winston S. Churchill, H. G. Wells, Edmund Blunden, Wilfred Scawen Blunt, Robert Bridges, John Buchan, Noel Coward, and others. The dust jacket reproduces a letter to Lawrence from Augustus John (painter) containing the statement "What a mess Kennington made of your Arabs." Eric Kennington was another artist who had befriended Lawrence and was later invited to visit the Middle East to compose a number of illustrations for The Seven Pillars of Wisdom (1926). A second state of the jacket has a different letter.
