W, Dowson (1896-1980) intelligence officer, served with the East Kent Regiment in Mesopotamia, and subsequently in Kurdistan; joined Hills Brothers Company, Basra, Iraq, in the date trade, 1925-1927; received an emergency commission, Indian Army, 1941, operating in intelligence, acting Major, 1944, expertise in Iraqi politics, economics and commerce; his archive at BLHCMA.
