Description: Vintage 1962 leather-bound edition of The Torah: The Five Books of Moses, published by The Jewish Publication Society of America. A new English translation of the Holy Scriptures according to the Masoretic Text. Copyright page states: Copyright © 1962 by The Jewish Publication Society of America First Edition, Sixth Impression Black pebbled leather binding with gilt lettering and JPS emblem, gilt page edges and attached ribbon bookmark. This edition has been identified in bibliographic/bookseller records as the black cowhide leather binding. Condition: Pre-owned vintage condition with normal signs of age, handling and storage. Leather cover remains attractive with light edge/corner wear. Gilt cover and spine lettering display nicely. Pages show normal age-related toning. Original ribbon marker remains attached. A previous owner’s “From the Library of” bookplate with handwritten name is attached inside the front of the book, as pictured. Presentation page appears unused.
