Indian Fairy Tales, A. L. Burt Company. RARE Antique volume of fairy tales from the Hindu tradition compiled and retold for English-speaking children by Australian folklorist Joseph Jacobs. Originally published in 1892, this copy (undated) is a somewhat later printing, but is still likely over 100 years old. It contains twenty-nine stories and nine drawings by John D. Batten. The formerly olive green cloth covered boards on this book have faded to taupe. The intricate cover illustration has faded in some spots but is overall still impactful. All edges and corners are moderately scuffed. The hinges and binding are in delicate condition, and some of the early pages are starting to detach. (see pics 5 & 6). There is one ink, and two light pencil markings on the flyleaf and title pages. The interior pages, text and illustrations are clean and unmarked.
