Published in Munich by Rogner & Bernhard Verlag in 1978, Schicker Schund is the first German edition of Makos's groundbreaking first book, White Trash. The book presents Makos's uncompromising photographs of New York's underground and countercultural scene at the end of the 1970s. Rather than presenting a polished fashion-world image of New York, Makos captures the people, clubs, streets, performers, artists, and personalities surrounding the city's rapidly developing Punk and New Wave scene. The photographs preserve an especially distinctive moment between the culture of the 1960s and the more commercialized 1980s.
