Original blind stamped cloth, publisher's emblem in center of front panel, gilt titles on spine. Mill's treatise established important principles regarding the relationship of the individual to the state, some of which were quite revolutionary in his day. In many ways his assertions paved the way for the definition of freedom we recognize today. Over 150 years later, this remains quite possibly the most important published work on the concept of liberty in general, and individual freedoms in particular.
