Contemporary red morocco, highly ornamented and lettered in gilt and blind, all edges gilt; pp. 367, steel-engraved frontispiece; light wear to corners, a little toned in places, frontispiece with faint marginal spotting, a beautiful copy in a fine binding; provenance : contemporary Plymouth bookseller's blind stamp to front fly-leaf, presentation inscription, dated 1852, underneath. New edition (first published in the US, 1845). This undated Glasgow edition of one of the most popular books on Mont Blanc is usually dated to 1859 or 1860 by the trade.
