Suyemoto was born in 1916 in Oroville, and studied English at UC Berkeley. During the war, she was incarcerated with her family at Topaz. She was referred to by Lawson Fusao Inada as our major Camp Poet and Nikkei Poet Laureate. She passed away in 2003.
