John Baldessari Somewhere Between Almost Right and Not Quite (With Orange)

by John Baldessari

$70 · Offered by eBay

John Baldessari was a leading figure in American Conceptual Art, known for combining photography, film, text, and painting while questioning how we read images. In this 2004 exhibition book, fragments of film stills are covered with vivid colors, hiding faces and outlines while strangely making them more memorable. What fascinates me is this contradiction: the less we can see, the more we begin to imagine. What expression lies underneath, and how different is it from the personality suggested by the color? Baldessari turns the act of hiding information into another way of looking.
