Exchanging Gazes. First edition, inscribed by the artist in Chinese on the inner front cover, "Zheng Yanxia [?], please give me your comments on this. Dong Jun. 2007.7." This catalogue was issued to coincide with Dong's exhibition at the Long March Space, July-August 2007. No copies are recorded on WorldCat.Born in Xi'an in 1982, Dong used his exhibition to "express the spiritual condition of Chinese youth... The atmosphere in Beijing is rampant with dissatisfaction of contemporary art. In particular there is an overwhelming presence of photography and visually overloaded photo-montages that cynically combine Chinese symbols with a kitsch aesthetics to form a superficial social criticism" (preface).
