What Becomes a Legend Most? The Blackglama Story. First edition, first printing, hardback issue, inscribed on the front free endpaper by the photographer "For Paul, R. Avedon, 1994". This copy comes with a letter dated August 1990 from Avedon's Studio stating that he will not sign this book as it was published without his authorization. In 1974 Rogers created what was to become a multi-million-dollar advertising agency promoting luxury brands, including Vidal Sassoon, Bottegga Veneta, Bulgari and Blackglama Mink, among others. What Becomes a Legend was a successful advertising campaign for Blackglama in the 1970s using glamorous female personalities of the era; this book seems to be a promotional publication by Rogers. Andy Warhol used Avedon's image of Judy Garland from the Blackglama marketing as one of the prints in his Ads portfolio.
