Anonyme Skulpturen. First edition, first printing, US issue, review copy; the book was published simultaneously in Germany and America. Widely regarded as their magnum opus, the Bechers' first monograph followed the catalogue of the same title which accompanied the 1969 exhibition at the Städtische Kunsthalle in Düsseldorf.Bernd Becher (1931-2007) and his wife Hilla (1934-2015) won the Erasmus Prize in 2002 and a Hasselblad Award in 2004. Together they "changed the course of late 20th-century photography. Working as a rare artist couple, they focused on a single subject: the disappearing industrial architecture of Western Europe and North America that fuelled the modern era" (The Met).
