"Esprit Staron: Ribbons, Silks and Haute Couture, 1867-1986," published by Somogy, Paris, 2007, 210 pages, large hardcover in pictorial boards, 11.25" by 10". Bilingual text in English and French. Exceptional book published in conjunction with a French exhibition on French textile house Staron, founded in 1867 and renowned as a manufacturer of luxury ribbons, trim, and silks - textiles regularly employed by French designers from Dior and Balenciaga to Givenchy, Balmain, Jean Patou, Nina Ricci, and Lanvin, among many others. Exhaustively researched, drawing on the company's own inventory and sourcebooks, and illustrated throughout in color plates and period black and white photos showing the company's textiles, including a series inspired by contemporary artists and movements. Impressive book, most highly recommended. Long out of print and rare. In excellent condition save for small tear at top of spine, otherwise clean, fresh, and unsullied. Buyer to pay for item plus shipping. Extra care given to shipping all books (check my feedback for thousands of testimonials). Books are always shipped in sturdy, secure cardboard boxes or mailers, and never in paper mailers.
