Born in 1952 in Kawaguchi, Saitama, Ogawa began his photography career in the late 1970s and gained recognition in the early 1980s through his series Urban Wandering in the legendary comedy magazine Casino Folly. This book is a poignant collection of snapshots taken by Ogawa after being diagnosed with stage 4 terminal stomach cancer in March 2019. Despite suffering a cerebral hemorrhage in 2006, Ogawa continued to capture the world around him, camera slung around his neck, walking with a cane. The photographs in this book, taken after 2006, are a testament to his resilience and dedication to his craft. Ogawa's work is deeply influenced by his visits to China, starting in 1988, where he witnessed the Tiananmen Square incident in 1989. He continued to visit China throughout the late 1990s, culminating in his 2005 publication A Radical Chaotic Tour, which documented his travels in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing. No Tomorrow serves as a powerful reflection of Ogawa's life and experiences, capturing the essence of urban landscapes and the human condition.
