The illustrated appendixes crafted by hand, with original photographs and geological maps, suggest a very limited print run. We have traced only one other copy, in the Krupp archive.In 1953, King Ahmad commissioned this report to assess the geological characteristics of southern and central Yemen, especially around Sana'a, Taiz, and Hodeida. Based on very few previous reports, the analysis comprised facts and figures on geology, stratigraphy, tectonics, and oil shale deposits. Great attention was also paid to hydrography and groundwater, as well as to the assessment of locations for the construction of thermoelectric powerplants. A final section is concerned with projects for the development of roads and railway lines. The photos show scenes including the old Ottoman road, local settlements and people, and geological detail, in areas such as El Harre, El Chamis, Mochader, and Wadi Ridjam.
