Official letter signed, to President Sadat. A calligraphic letter signed with Sheikh Zayed's official monogram at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. It concerns Taryam Omran Taryam (1942-2002), first UAE Ambassador to Egypt and the Arab League in 1971-76. He left his appointments abroad - which Sheikh Zayed announced with the present letter - to become president of the UAE Federal National Council in 1977. We have traced no other such letters or signatures on the market.The co-founder of Dar al-Khaleej Printing and Publishing, Taryam was an important figure in the establishment and early development of the UAE. In 1970, he founded Al Khaleej, the first political newspaper in the region. His obituary on Gulf News called him "a paragon of the Arab cause".
