A collection of seven pamphlets on the oil industry. A collection of mostly Arabic pamphlets - three of them unrecorded elsewhere - providing a detailed snapshot of the Iraqi oil industry and its foreign relations during the momentous years from the late 1950s to 1970.The overthrow of the Hashemite King Faisal II by Abdul Karim Qasim and the Iraqi Free Officers, and Iraq's subsequent rapprochement with the Soviet Union, led to its withdrawal from the Baghdad Pact and to extensive negotiations with foreign oil companies. In 1961, Qasim's government revised the concessionary arrangements of the Iraq Petroleum Company. He was himself overthrown by the Ba'ath Party in 1963.The pamphlets trace the development of Iraq's petroleum industry and its history. One celebrates the opening of the Daura Lube Plant in 1957, under King Faisal II, with details of its construction, production phases, and projected output. Another, by Hakim Sami Suleiman (1889-1964), prime minister of Iraq from 1936 to 1937, is the author's Arabic translation, expanded with additional material, of his original English history of oil exploitation in Iraq from before 1900 to 1958. A book-length study by the minister of trade, Abdul Latif Shawaf, examines the negotiations of 1958-62, with statistics on revenues and a detailed account of the resulting oil legislation. A further pamphlet, issued by the Ministry of Oil in 1970, presents production figures and data on the allocation of oil revenues during the 1960s.Thr
