The Belgian-born philologist and author of works on Russia, geopolitics and the Great Game Charles Louis-Camille Saroléa lived in Edinburgh. This rare pamphlet was published in the year the Hejaz Railway reached Al-'Ula station and six years before completion. Sarolea comments on the news that a German company has obtained a licence to built a line from Aleppo to Mecca. 'The Holy Land will become a German Province.
