These two volumes contain an index and extracts of the land grant records archived in the Archivo General de la Nacion (National Archives of Mexico), "Ramo de Mercedes." This index names grantees between the years of 1542-1798. The majority of land grants contained in these indices are for the 1500s and 1600s. Excellent resource for genealogical research as it lists settler grantees for towns in the State of Mexico.
