Notes sur la Végétation indigène et introduite de l'Australie, considérée spécialement au point de vue de l'occupation du territoire, et du développement de ses ressources Publication: Melbourne, Masterman, Imprimeur, 1866 (first edition in French) Edition: First Edition Description: Octavo, 55 pages. Blue wrappers with the full title page details repeated (within a border) on the front cover; wrappers worn and a little foxed, with neat library labels and stamps (see below); scattered light foxing internally; a good copy. Mueller's 'Australian Vegetation, Indigenous or Introduced' was prepared for the Intercolonial Exhibition held in Melbourne in 1866. This scarce French edition (translated by Eugène Lissignol, Secretary to the French Consulate, Melbourne) appears to predate the published English editions, and was likely intended primarily for distribution at the Victorian Court at the 1867 Paris Exposition Universelle. This example has the contemporary library labels and stamps of the Koninklijk Instituut van Ingenieurs (KIVI), the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers. Ferguson 12928 (not noting the wrappers); see 12926 and 12927 for the English imprints. Seller ID: 147226 Subject: Australia, Botany & Gard
