A lovely, illustrated collection of fairy tales with origins from the North of England in very good condition. First and possibly only printing; 8vo (18.5 x 13 cm); contemporary ink inscription to front endpaper dated 1890, frontispiece and 7 other engraved illustrations, some offsetting and light spotting to half-title, some plates a little loose, though primarily the plate to p.90 but holding, hinges slightly loose in some places but firm, occasional spot or mark throughout, else a bright, clean, very good edition; publisher's blue cloth boards, coloured illustrations to upper board and spine, with gilt and silver decoration and gilt lettering, green floral endpapers, all edges gilt, a little rubbed to edges and corners slightly bumped, lightly worn to joints, otherwise a lovely, colourful book;
