A highly regarded facsimile with charming illustrations by E.Geddes and A. Sutcliffe reproduced from Sangorski Sutcliffe's The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam which was iconic iconic for its opulent, early 20th-century jeweled bindings. The most famous "The Great Omar" was lost on the Titanic. Arabic scholar Edward Fitzgerald (1809-1883) was the first translator and author of five separate English versions of the Rubaiyat First trade edition. 4to (31 x 24 cm),12 full page colour plates, numerous illustrations in text, decorated endpapers, slight toning to a few pages at the front and rear; bound in later half red morocco gilt, spine gilt lettered, raised bands; a very good copy.
