The Silver Locusts.

£125 · Offered by Shapero Rare Books · No longer available

The first UK edition of Bradbury's famous 'Martian Chronicles', with slightly different content to the US edition and its coeval Argentinian counterpart. Publishers Rupert Hart-Davis produced some lovely books, particularly when the man himself was still at the helm, and their Ray Bradbury editions are no exception, often featuring excellent dust-jacket art by illustrators either well-known at the time, or who would go on to find renown subsequently, such as John Minton. First UK edition, first impression; 8vo (21 x 14 cm); fox device by Reynolds Stone to title, occasional light spotting else unmarked internally; publisher's pale grey boards lettered in silver to spine, dust-jacket with artwork by Roy Sanford, a few small tears to extremities, signs or wear and soiling primarily to rear panel, else good condition; 232pp.
