Lot of three consecutive vintage issues of Thoughtprints, the literary and art magazine of Newton North High School, Newtonville, Massachusetts: 1992, 1993 and 1994. Thoughtprints is a student literary/art publication featuring original artwork, photography, poetry and prose by Newton North students. This lot provides an interesting snapshot of the school's creative community in the early 1990s. NOTABLE CONTRIBUTORS / EARLY WORK These issues are particularly interesting because they document early creative work by several contributors who later established professional careers in the arts, film, and related fields. Clara Lieu – Professional visual artist and art educator who later taught at institutions including the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Wellesley College, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She is also the founder of Art Prof. Lieu is represented throughout this three-year run, providing an unusual look at the development of her early artwork. The issues include The Optical Void (1992); The Scattered Blasphemy: A Self Portrait, The Screaming Entity, and The Prosecution (1993); and The Scream (1994). Ursula Liang – Newton North Class of 1992. Liang went on to become an award-winning documentary filmmaker, director, and producer whose work has appeared on PBS/FRONTLINE and ESPN and screened at major film festivals.
