James, Rector of the St. James Episcopal Church in Bolivar, TN was a dear friend of my father, Carlin T. Brooks, Sr. He left these books to my dad in his will. My dad used these books with care but they were in pretty fragile condition when he got them. The photos illustrate their condition pretty well. The books can be carefully used for reference in their current condition, but they could be restored by a professional book binder and put back in great condition. The "bones are there." The content of these books is important and accurate enough for them to have been reprinted in 1878 in 2 volumes later in the early 20th century in 3 volumes and in a abridged single volume version by Zondervan in 1982.
