Galbraith, a liberal Democrat who advised Kennedy and campaigned for George McGovern in 1972, opposed much of the Nixon administration's foreign policy; Kissinger shaped the realpolitik of the Nixon and Ford administrations. Both taught at Harvard between 1954 and 1969, Galbraith as professor of economics and Kissinger in the Department of Government and the Center for International Affairs.Galbraith's memoir charts his career as an economist, political campaigner, ambassador to India, and author. The inscription alludes to Kissinger's memoirs: the first volume had appeared in 1979, with further volumes following in 1982 and 1999.
