Old Abe, The Eighth Wisconsin War Eagle: A Full Account of his Capture and Enlistment, Exploits in War and Honorable as Well as Useful Career in Peace. I feel this book is in exceptional condition considering age. Pages are yellow but all there. Published originally in 1885 by Curran and Bowen (Madison, WI), this historic volume details the story of "Old Abe," a famous bald eagle that served as the mascot for the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War. The 1861 printed in gold gilt at the bottom of the front cover signifies the year the regiment was formed and the year Old Abe's military service began.
