It's the big daddy of cyberpunk literature, or at least a six-hour abridgement of same, and it's read by William Gibson for anyone who particularly digs his somewhat idiosyncratic delivery. Five CDs in one of those chunky double-thick jewel boxes from the early days of compact discs, intermittent music by Black Rain (plus snippets of two U2 remixes for some reason), the cover art that I'll always associate with the Ace paperback from back in the day, and that one promo photo of Gibson that always got used on Prisoners of Gravity tucked under one of the swivelling trays. Buy a copy now and listen to it before the Apple TV series premieres in January, and then wonder if any differences between the two are deliberate creative departures or just stuff that got trimmed to fit the story into six hours.
