A fine very rare architectural view of the residence of the Louis Philippe, Duc d'Orleans. The scene that Daniell presents is full of life and interest: the foreground teems with figures going about the every day life of the palace, whilst to the left hand side building work progresses with workmen on scaffolding concentrating on hoisting a large block of stone shown half way up the façade.
