Der Nationalstaat und die Volkswirtschaftspolitik. First edition of the pioneering sociologist's inaugural lecture as professor of political economy at the University of Freiburg in 1894. Focussing on the relationship between the nation state and economic policy, the lecture aims to secure the acceptability of the Marxian concept of "capitalism" as a valid concept for economic analysis, despite the perceived untenability of the labour theory of value. In the preface, Weber writes that he only published this lecture because of the furore it created among his audience.
